July Jump-Offs!
July 17th: Panel and Master Class with GCLS
Master Class: 10 - 11:35 a.m.
Character Matters: Crafting Compelling Characters
There are characters we love and characters we love to hate. To love or hate a character, we have to be invested in the character; we have to know them to have feelings about them. In this workshop, writers will explore what it takes to craft compelling, complex characters who come alive on the page. With in-session writing prompts and small group exercises, writers will take a deep dive into their characters to discover how their quirks, desires, and backgrounds inform a story's plots, themes, and structure.

July 17th: Celebrating My Boo’s New Book at One of My Favorite Bookstores!
Catch me and Fiona Zedde, my friend and writing partner of over a decade, as we celebrate her latest novel, House of Agnes. This reading and conversation is sponsored and hosted by Charis Books and More, the South's oldest independent feminist bookstore. Celebrating radical and independent voices in the heart of the South since 1974, and ZAMI-NOBLA, an incredible organization who believies, “Our work is community work, it is collective work, it is communal work, it is feminist work, it is social justice work.”
Fiona will read a bit from her book, and we’ll have a lively, engaged conversation about the book, writing, and anything else our hearts desire.
